July 21st, 2010. Wednesday. (Funny the things one doesn't remember writing.)

They call me the deer girl,
I speak with and of their
eyes, their steps delicate and
lilting.
Brown pools of soul encased within thin faces,
Nibbling at tomato plants,
A stranger's garden.
Strange encounters with wandering
animal souls.
       Summer is here,
       Where did Winter go?

Traces left

Funny, funny, funny how very much I have changed.
To go to the beginning of this blog, or the beginning of my time on Facebook is to meet a very different person, this past version of myself.
Spazzy and wild, long prattling posts, and very few photographs. The funniest thing is, I like this girl, she is amusing and engaging, so young and unrestrained. It's fun to meet her all over again, this girl I forgot I was. My name is still hers, and hers mine, though the meaning has evolved much in the time between then and now.
I still know quite a bit of what she knew, but she was only just beginning to discover what has become evident to me.
I wonder if she ever thought of me; I know I think of her, but then, she has left an imprint on my time, and I wasn't anything but a distant hope in hers.

I used to think that people never really changed, but I know I have, and it's become very evident in a dear friend, this change and growth that I imagine all go through, given the space, time, and thought.

A Dream Come to Life

Bittersoft and sicklysweet,
Loud and long and hard,
I pray to god my soul to keep,
If I should depart.
Hugely unsatisfying,
Strangely electrifying,
Sickening,
Am I dying?
A world so inside my head,
Weird sensations all around,
Could it be that I'm already dead?
Please,
Somebody,
I need to be found.

Lackadaisically Half-hearted (Or, we didn't fix the problem, but we didn't do it, with a smile.)

We did some stuff,
We did some stuff,
We did some stuff,
And that's enough

We fixed a hole,
Stuffed a mole
Inside
He'll probably get out,
Oops,
He just died
But that's enough

We did some stuff,
We did some stuff,
We did some stuff,
And that's enough

Mud stomp

It rained in torrents.
The best kind of rain.
The best kind of rain for dancing.
I took my iPod and head phones out with me, slightly afraid of electrocution, but not enough to turn me from my mission. My bare feet loved the squishy mud and clear water. If I was going to dance on the wet dirt,  I might as well do it unshod.
My iPod was on shuffle, it took me awhile to find a song with a good beat. When I did, there was nothing to stop me from stomping, leaping, and twirling in delight. I was on fire, and the rain cooled me off.
In only felt a little self-conscious, but not enough to make a difference. I delighted in my rain dance, why have I never tried before? Why has it never occurred to me to dance as the heavens poured out life to my Earth? I suppose it's because I never had a very transportable form of music before, one can't just lug a boom box or a radio into the pouring water.
Right as I began to surf shuffle again, my iPod died, and my private party came to an end. But that was okay, the rain had stopped, I was ready to go in.
